KarenB, although we are disappointed your most recent stay at the Hawthorne was less than expected, the experience you shared is not, as you mention, due to COVID. Rooms at the guest house are recommended for one to two travelers and are not handicapped accessible. Built in 1807 and named for local nature artist Fidelia Bridges, the structure is a fine example of Federal-period architecture featuring wide pine floors, low ceilings and historic detail. As an alternative, we also offer an adjacent guest house with four traditionally appointed bedrooms. The common areas were refreshed in 2020 our Lobby boasts new carpeting and soft furnishings.
Guest rooms received updates in 2018 including paint, wallpaper, drapes, headboards, bedding and decorative pillow shams that are laundered after every guest. Lobby restrooms and a number of guest rooms are handicapped accessible.
